The WYEC 2018 gives you the unique opportunity to write about a subject that interests, motivates and inspires you the most! There is no topic restriction and you are free to write about topics such as

> aspects of society, > environmental issues, > science and technology, > global affairs and more.

The essay has to be between one to eight pages in the English language. You can also use pictures and graphics in your essay to visualize your words. Please submit your essay as PDF file (preferred). The WYEC 2018 jury judges each essay individually based on various criteria which may include creativity, writing style, knowledge skills and more. The WYEC 2018 Finalists will answer three short questions towards personality and achievements: The jury selects the winners based on your essay and your personality!
Who can participate
All high school and university students can participate in the WYEC 2018 international essay competition. The WYEC 2018 is open to students from all countries! Every student is welcomed to submit his essay. Because WYEC 2018 wants to encourage students from certain countries, the jury gives special attention to submission from these countries: Nepal, India, Germany, Thailand, Gambia, Philippines, Kenya, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Liberia, Zambia, Indonesia, Morocco, France, Brazil, Pakistan, USA, Ukraine, Egypt, Vietnam and More.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international development finance institution headquartered in Manila, Philippines and is composed of 67 members, 48 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. ADB’s mission is to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic growth in the region. ADB’s main instruments for helping its developing member countries are policy dialogue, loans, equity investments, guarantees, grants, and technical assistance.

ADB only hires nationals of its 67 member countries.

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is an entry-level recruitment program to attract highly qualified and motivated individuals to ADB. YPP provides the foundation for a challenging and rewarding professional career in an international development environment, and offers a range of opportunities to develop professional skills and understanding of ADB's operations, policies and procedures. Selected Young Professionals will be placed to one of the Bank’s departments or offices that best fit their skills and competencies, and contribute to the achievement of ADB’s Strategy 2020 (and subsequently Strategy 2030).

Job Purpose
Young Professionals will contribute to ADB's mission and execution of main instruments comprising loans, technical assistance (TA), grants, advice, and knowledge. The incumbent will report to a Director or designated International Staff, and may supervise national and administrative staff.

a. Strategy and Planning
  Assist and participate towards the development of policy and strategy of ADB
  Apply own complex specialist knowledge to support others in research and analysis including development impact of ADB operations.
 b. Project Management
  Assist and participate in the development, processing and administration of non-complex loans, grants and/or TA projects.
  Support integration of ADB’s policies and guidelines in the design and implementation of projects.
c. Knowledge Sharing
  Support and contribute to ADB’s activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge building.
Relevant Experience & Requirements
> At least a university degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Environment, Law, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or other areas relevant to ADB’s operations.
> At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in any of the following fields: macro or development economics, climate change, commercial/investment banking or corporate investment, education, energy, environment, financial sector, public health, public-private partnership, rural development, transport, urban planning, water operations, and agriculture and natural resources. PhD will be considered in lieu of work experience.
> Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
> Ability to work with different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
> International experience in areas related to ADB operations will be an asset
> No close relatives in ADB
> Not more than 32 years old upon joining ADB

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is pleased to invite youth-led organizations to apply for the Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF). The call is open to organizations from select countries whose work seeks to foster peaceful and inclusive societies through improved understanding and collaboration across cultures, faiths and beliefs.

Through a competitive evaluation process, YSF will award seed funding (up to USD 25,000) for the implementation of selected projects that demonstrate innovative approaches to intercultural or interfaith dialogue and advance the mission of UNAOC. YSF only supports projects that are entirely developed and managed by youth for the benefit of youth.

Established in 2008, the Fund responded to calls for action made by young civil society leaders around the world on the importance of establishing funding mechanisms for youth-led organizations. Since its creation, YSF has funded 57 youth-led organizations in 34 countries.

Today, the Fund continues to support youth-led civil society organizations, with a particular focus on the role of young people in promoting peace and in preventing violent extremism. YSF contributes to advancing the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, which establishes the policy framework to support and engage young people as part of inclusive, participatory approaches to building peaceful and inclusive societies.

Are you a leader with a vision? Do you want to make a change? Young Connectors of the Future (YCF) is a leadership programme for people who want to work for positive change in society – and in themselves. If you are open-minded and want a real learning challenge, apply for a seat among the YCF. The call for applications for YCF 2018 is open between 8 January and 6 February.

YCF aims to support young leaders in South Asia by giving them the tools and methods they need in their work for an equal and sustainable society. All participants are experts in their field, and learning will take place between participants and through external experts. YCF is as much about personal as professional development. It is about growing as a person with renewed confidence and insights, and growing as a leader with new tools, methods and perspectives.

The programme is an intense training based on real experiences and collaborative learning. The contents of the programme will vary from year to year as it is the particular expertise and experience of the participants that will largely determine the topics dealt with. The following broader issues will however always be central: value-based leadership and group development; democracy and human rights for a more equal and sustainable society; networks and the digital world. Participants will learn by participating in interactive sessions with facilitators, exchanging experiences, doing practical exercises and finding common solutions to global and/or common challenges.

YCF will give you:

  • > New tools, methods and perspectives that is needed when working for an equal and sustainable society.

  • > Greater understanding of the environment and issues on a local, regional and global level

  • > Personal insights and self-awareness as a leader, a change-maker and a person

WHO Can apply:

Have a leading position in your work for social change (for example in your work as a civil servant, a youth politician, a legal worker, a journalist, a social worker, a social entrepreneur or a cultural worker).

  • > Work in a collaborative setting, where you have a leadership role (formal or informal)

  • > Are working actively for democracy, sustainability, diversity and/or human rights

  • > Are between 22 and 32 years old (born 1985 – 1996)

  • > Have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English

The European Commission is inviting young people from around the world to play an active role in this year’s EDD. We are looking for 15 extraordinary young people aged 21-26 who can represent the powerful impact that youth are having in the development field. The Young Leaders Programme will consist of a 10-day visit to Brussels, where Young Leaders will meet EU experts, stakeholders and play a leading role in the EDD Programme, which will include speaking in various session alongside global leaders. Applications will close on 2 March.

Thematic Areas

Under the main thread of ‘Women and Girls at the Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest’, the EDD 2018 agenda will be framed by three major themes emerging as key priorities in today’s current context: 'Ensuring the physical and psychological integrity of Girls and Women', 'Promoting economic and social rights and empowerment of Girls and Women', 'Strengthening Girls’ and Women’s voice and participation.


The European Development Days (EDD 2018) will take place at Tour & Taxis on 5-6 June 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.

Teach For Bangladesh is looking for our country’s most promising leaders to take on the challenge of rebuilding our nation. Our admissions process is highly selective, and they normally admit less than 10% of applicants. Successful candidates typically demonstrate a proven record of academic excellence and non-academic leadership, alignment with our core values and mission, strong critical thinking skills and the ability to overcome challenges. Candidates must also be proficient in both Bangla and English, and communicate compellingly.

Eligibility Requirements: The minimum education requirement to apply for the TFB Fellowship is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Candidates must hold a valid Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, or expect to hold a valid Bachelor’s degree by December 31 of the year in which they are applying.

The Teach For Bangladesh Fellowship is open only to Bangladeshi nationals, dual citizens who hold a Bangladeshi passport, and foreign nationals of Bangladeshi origin who have a No Visa Required seal on their passport.
